The Gaza Crises & Scorpio Mars Haumea Conjunction

Last week enroute to the Astrological Association Conference (12^th Oct) I posted a very brief post on my social media regarding the Mars Haumea Conjunction at 00Scorpio:

“Today Mars is conjunct Haumea at 00Scorpio. The last time this occurred was 1769, the last of several conjunctions in Scorpio which began in 1744. This period coincided with the likes of the beginning of the British Empire in India, the colonisation of America and the Seven Years War, in with the European superpowers fought in Europe and the Americas. The American Revolution began. Captain Cook was exploring New Zealand. This is about fighting for ownership of land, and now we see it again with the terrible events in Israel. This is the worst manifestation of Mars and Haumea in Scorpio – brutal death and destruction. In Haumea’s myth she repeatedly gave birth to babies from various parts of her body, and the reports of babies being brutally slaughtered is utterly heartbreaking. This aspect will repeat in Scorpio a further 15 times until 2048. It is not to be underestimated….and I’ll be posting more on it soon.”

So now I’m back home and caught up workwise (well, sort of!) I’d like to expand on this topic a little further, especially as the situation in Gaza has escalated. This is merely an overview which I hope to add to as events progress (and I wrap my head around them further into the future), so for now I’ll just be discussing some key standout points in these charts, and the next couple of lunations.

As I said, this is the first time Mars and Haumea have met in Scorpio since the 1700’s, which coincided with issues of power, control and ownership of land, nations and territory. Lets not forget also that Taurus is the opposing sign to Scorpio, therefore encompasses the resources and security provided by the land. On a deeper level Scorpio indicates the emotional attachment to all of those. Mars in Scorpio at its worst can be vengeful and ruthless, but it also comes from a primal place of survival – kill or be killed, fight or die. An eye for an eye. A volcano of hate. Israel’s response to the Hamas attack perhaps comes from this instinctual place, Hamas in turn the same.

The commander in chief of Hamas’ military arm claimed responsibility for the attack via a video statement. Here is the chart of the attack which occurred prior to the Solar Eclipse at 12Libra on 14^th October. WE do not yet know what provoked it and probably wont for some time, if ever. This is the nature of a solar eclipse, to conceal, and we are still in the dark on many matters.

The rising Sun indicates a sense of pride in the event from the Hamas leaders. Also rising is a Mars South Node conjunction, the Dragon’s tail. This is not a step forward, it is a step taken with what already exists, resources already available. It is perhaps action taken from a less evolved position. Mars is also building to the conjunction with Haumea, matriarch of creativity and destruction, newly ingressed into Scorpio. Haumea is Hawaii’s most ancient deity, mother goddess to the island and it’s gods, in particular Pele the volcano goddess. Imagine the creative force of a volcano erupting then lava flowing downwards before cooling, in so giving birth to new land. On the other hand, imagine the destructive potential too….

Here we are seeing the sheer destruction of life due to war over possession of land. All energised by the destructive shadow of Haumea. Also note the 6^th house quincunx to Neptune which trines a 10^th Cancer Moon – this is the people suffering. These are the victims. Especially when hospitals are bombed.

Note Ceres also in Scorpio. In the myth her daughter was abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld. In Haumea’s myth she regularly transforms from an old women to a young girl and gives birth to babies from various parts of her body. The scenes of the conflict on international media outlets involving the death and abduction of children, then the ensuing parental grief which  is heart wrenching. There are simply no words….and so to avoid this post becoming far longer than time allows, I will pick up on Ceres and Juno in more depth at a later date.

Looking at the tri-wheel of Israel, Hamas and the attack on the 7^th Oct, transit Uranus conjunct Israel’s Sun (and opposite Chiron) describes the unexpected nature of the attack, and perhaps why it’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has retaliated in a seemingly impulsive manner. The Taurus Sun will of course not like giving ground!  Whilst Uranus is in orb of a conjunction, the exact hits will not occur until 23/05/2024, 30/12/2024 & 02/03/2025. Uranus is the great awakener, so from a positive perspective, we may see some surprises of form of shake up with the leadership and it’s motives. The Aries North Node is approaching Israel’s Descendant – this is fight rather than diplomacy, and of course Mars was opposite this at the moment of the attack.

The synastry between Israel and Hamas is a minefield to say the least. Hamas’ violent Mars Pluto conjunction sits on Israel’s Scorpio South Node, encouraging the same. This in turn square’s Israel’s Leo Saturn Pluto Haumea stellium. Here the use of force is likely to be destructive rather than creative. Death rather than choosing life. With such fixed energy neither side is willing to give ground.

Hamas’ Aries Jupiter sits on Israel’s Descendant in an all out contest for leadership and transit Chiron is applying. They are hurting themselves and perhaps once the pain becomes to much, only then will they look for solutions. Also, when speaking of Jupiter, Hamas’ 9^th house Sagittarius stellium sits on Israels Jupiter. We must not forget that behind this conflict over land there is a deeper religious, faith driven conflict too.

Before I get too deeply ingrained in the minutiae of these charts I’ll finish this section with a mention of  transit Neptune conjunct Hamas’ Pisces Ascendant (TOB of course needs to be kept in mind). Whilst the initial attack by Hamas was deliberate, the rest of the world, the collective waiting with bated breath, mostly sees it is as meaningless, bringing nothing but large scale suffering and the potential for conflict to spread far beyond its current location. More displaced victims seeking refuge.

Moving on, 18^th Oct President Biden met with Netanyahu. On 17^th Oct the Al-Ahi Arab hospital in Gaza was hit by an air strike leaving hundreds dead and injured. There is still no definitive evidence as to who is responsible: Hamas and Palestine officials blame Israel. Israel denies responsibility, instead blaming Palestine militants. Who knows what to believe or blame, which in itself is so resonant with the current Saturn in Pisces.

However, according to multiple media sources Biden is supporting Israel’s account which takes us back to the Mars Haumea conjunction. Let’s look at the synastry of the US and Israeli leadership:

Firstly, the Mars Haumea conjunction at 00Scorpio opposed Biden’s 00Taurus Moon. He will be key player in this conflict, whether for good or ill. Haumea is of course very slow moving so will remain at this degree for some time, however, as American astrologer Sue Kientz mentioned is trine Saturn in Pisces – perhaps offering some hope for peace or sensibility. Mars will now continue to move forwards across Biden’s Scorpio stellium, triggering also by square his Leo Pluto/Haumea.

Netanyahu’s Pluto falls on Biden’s Haumea, along with his Mars on Biden’s Chiron and Chiron on Biden’s Ascendant. So much fire, which of course heats up Biden’s Scorpio stellium and triggers his sense of injustice and pain and therefore how he wields his power. Biden personified Chiron in his speech yesterday when encouraging Netanyahu not to make the same mistakes as the US did with their response to 9/11.

Of note is their Jupiter opposition across the Cancer/Capricorn axis still being triggered by Pluto at 27 Capricorn which squares Netanyahu’s Libra Sun (let’s not forget the US Pluto return also). Both believe they are doing the right thing, and with so much Libra energy emphasized by the 21Lib Solar Eclipse (also conjunct Netanyahu’s Ceres/Moon/South Node) it is likely collaborations will be important. He will need support. In such, this will not be a stand alone conflict.

Looking head to the forthcoming Lunar Eclipse on 28^th October 2023 at 05Tau09, we can see Haumea still at 00Scorpio opposite Biden’s Moon. But the Sun, Mercury, Mars and Ceres are moving across his Scorpio stellium and also the Hamas/Israel Scorpio/Taurus axis.

The eclipse itself forms a T-square with Israel’s Leo Moon, the people of the land, so this may well be a crucial time for them, one of defiance against the odds, the will to survive. And this is exactly what may be needed as Mars will form an exact conjunction with Hamas’ Pluto alongside a Mars Return in a stand off T-square to Israel’s Saturn Pluto conjunction.

One important point to note with this eclipse is the lack of Air – possibly not the best for communicating which surely at this point is crucial.

At the end of this post I’ve provided a list of the Scorpio Mars Haumea conjunctions through to 2048. Have a look for yourself and see which points in the charts above are triggered (but bear in mind Biden’s age therefore it will be his successor that we will need to study also).

UK Prime Minster Rishi Sunak also visited Israel today (19^th Oct). His Virgo Mars Jupiter fall at 00-02 Virgo therefore forming a sextile to the early degrees of Scorpio. Perhaps he offers an opportunity for rational thinking and more detailed perspective. We shall see.

Looking ahead to the next New Moon at 20Sco43 on 13^th November 2023, this will be another crucial moment. It falls on Israel’s Chiron with transit Uranus opposite on Israels Sun. Let’s hope this a moment of wisdom and awakening, a cease fire perhaps, rather than reacting like an injured, enraged animal. Mars and Ceres are also conjunct the New Moon in a trine to Neptune. Perhaps this is might bring some compassion and room to maneuver regarding the innocent people caught up in this. And let’s not forget Hamas has that Neptune on its Ascendant….

When this New Moon is relocated to Gaza, it becomes angular on the MC – see the chart and astromap below. I’m trying to remain positive, but this period has the potential to be explosively dangerous, or surprising in other ways. Let’s hope Neptune here diffuses the situation in the most positive way rather than the unaspected Jupiter inflating the situation, perhaps by international law becoming enforced, for example.

One last thought: there is a new Jupiter Uranus cycle beginning in April 2024 at 21Taurus, conjunct the Israel Sun. Might this be a breakthrough? Innovation and new ground, a new way forward, or simply a shake up of the Israeli leadership? I’ll be following up on this post soon with a longer range forecast including more Ceres and Juno, but in the meantime let’s pray for peace and resolution.
